I’m Andy Nguyen, PMHNP-BC,

About

a psychiatric nurse practitioner providing adult telehealth psychiatric care across California.

My approach is grounded in trying to understand what is actually going on, recognize the patterns that matter, and build treatment that is practical, workable, and worth following through on. Patients often come in carrying something that feels heavy, complicated, or hard to put into words. I try to meet that with accuracy and steadiness — asking the questions that help clarify what may be getting missed, and helping make sense of things without turning the situation into something more chaotic than it already feels.

Clinically, I value practicality, pattern recognition, and a calm, measured approach. I’m less interested in forcing people into rigid categories than in understanding the actual structure of what they’re dealing with: how symptoms are showing up, what may be driving them, what has and hasn’t worked, and what kind of treatment is both sensible and sustainable.

Approach

My background includes hospital psychiatry, community psychiatry, outreach, urgent mental health care, and outpatient practice. Across those settings, I worked close to psychiatric emergencies, severe mental illness, substance withdrawal, homelessness, and the medical and social realities that often complicate treatment. What that taught me, over and over, is that the setting may change, but the human struggle underneath it is often more continuous than it first appears.

In outpatient care, I bring that perspective into a setting with more room for thoughtfulness, continuity, and individualized treatment. My goal is to provide care that is clear, steady, and genuinely useful — care that helps people feel understood, not overhandled, and treatment that makes sense in real life.
